Il Garante italiano incontra l’Autorità privacy islandese
Due giorni di lavori a tutela dei minori a partire dai casi Chatgpt, Replika, TikTok e Seesaw

I casi Chatgpt, Replika, TikTok, Seesaw e la tutela dei diritti dei minori. Questi i temi al centro della due giorni di studio che si è conclusa oggi a Roma tra il Garante Privacy italiano e una delegazione dell’Autorità di protezione dati islandese.

Nel corso dei lavori, che si sono svolti presso la sede dell’Autorità italiana, sono intervenuti il Presidente Pasquale Stanzione, la Vicepresidente Ginevra Cerrina Feroni e il componente del Collegio Guido Scorza per il Garante italiano, la Data Protection Commissioner Helga Þórisdóttir e l’Head of Data Security and Auditing Valborg Steingrímsdóttir per il Garante islandese, oltre a dirigenti e funzionari di entrambe le Autorità.

Dopo i saluti istituzionali del Presidente Stanzione, i rappresentanti delle due Autorità hanno illustrato rispettivamente le principali attività svolte nell’ultimo periodo per la protezione dei dati dei più piccoli. Le Autorità si sono soffermate in particolare sui rischi nei quali possono incorrere i minori online e sulla individuazione di efficaci sistemi di age verification dei quali si sta dibattendo a livello Europeo.

Un focus specifico è stato, inoltre, dedicato alle decisioni prese dal Garante italiano in merito ai chatbot di intelligenza artificiale Chatgpt e Replika e alla piattaforma TikTok e alle azioni intraprese dal Garante islandese sul sistema di sharing educativo Seesaw.

A conclusione dei lavori, le due Autorità hanno deciso l’avvio di forme più strette di collaborazione a tutela dei diritti dei minori e delle persone emotivamente fragili.

Italian DPA meets with Icelandic Privacy Authority
Two days of work to protect minors starting from the Chatgpt, Replika, TikTok and Seesaw cases.

The Chatgpt, Replika, TikTok, Seesaw cases and the protection of children's rights. These topics were the focus of the two-day study meeting that ended today in Rome between the Italian SA and a delegation from the Icelandic Data Protection Authority.

During the proceedings, which took place at the Italian Authority's headquarters, speakers included President Pasquale Stanzione, Vice-President Ginevra Cerrina Feroni and Board Member Guido Scorza for the Italian Garante; Data Protection Commissioner Helga Þórisdóttir and Head of Data Security and Auditing Valborg Steingrímsdóttir for the Icelandic DPA, as well as senior and junior officials from both authorities.

After the welcome and introduction speech by President Stanzione, the representatives of the two Authorities respectively outlined the main activities carried out recently to protect the data of the youngest children. The speakers focused in particular on the risks minors may incur online and on the identification of effective age verification systems that are being debated at the European level.

In addition, specific attention was drawn to the decisions made by the Italian Garante regarding the Chatgpt and Replika artificial intelligence chatbots and the TikTok platform, and the actions taken by the Icelandic DPA on the educational sharing system Seesaw.

At the conclusion of the study meeting, the two authorities agreed to initiate closer forms of collaboration to protect the rights of minors and emotionally fragile people.
